Prom the FACTS!

It’s that time of year again! You’re wondering who will ask you, you can’t decide on what colour dress and you just can’t bring yourself to think about how you want your hair.. (that is, if you haven’t pulled it out already from stress!!)
Fear not ladies, Prom needn’t be endless worry and panic! I have all the facts you need to know right here, from dress style to hair style, what more could you ask for!…However guys your prince charming unfortunatly isn’t on my list!

Thanks to likes of the Met Ball and Cannes Film festival, we’ve had our pen and paper at the ready to take notes of what’s in and what’s not! As a helping hand (and I like to lend two!) I’ve gathered this seasons must have dresses, hair and make-up looks to help you choose your perfect prom style.
To start us off for this seasons must have dresses is none other then the beautiful Blake Lively. She wowed us all in a gorgeous floor length, maroon Gucci gown, which she wore to Cannes Film Festival this year. Believe it or not, but the daring leg split is a No*1 must have for prom! Although it’s very sexy, it also looks mature and sophisticated. If Maroon really isn’t your colour go for a nude or a pastel colour like mint.

If getting you’r pins out seems a tad on the ‘Risk-ay’ side, why not take a leaf out of Queen Bey’s book! Sheer illiusion dresses are a big hit this year with many Designers having used the design in their collections. You don’t have to be as daring as Bey here, you can show an enticing style with an exposed neckline or a sheer back.

When it comes to Hairstyles, you really need to think about your dress, if you have a sheer back please don’t hide it with a full head of extensions and a curly blow!! Instead opt for a hair up. Plaits are here to stay and are bang on trend, try and incorprate a plait in to your up do, or get your hairstylist to.  Try different plait techniques theres a world beyond your everyday three strand braid.
Take some tips from the lovely Jennifer Lawrence and intwine hair chains or ribbon into your hair up.

If you’re dress is strapless and simple then I give you full permission to get that bouncy curly blow, however it comes with a catch! Brush out your curls to create soft waved and sweep your hair to one side  like the dazzling Cara Delevingne to create a dramtice and elegant look. If you’re feeling adventurous and you have natural long hair or extensions, why not try a messy fishtail braid down one side.

When it comes down to your make-up, remember this is your prom. You still want your youth with a dash of high class. Keep it soft and pretty like Karlie Kloss. Her look is centered around her smokey eyes while the rest of her makeup envolves very nutural tones. I’m a firm believer that you shoud draw attention to your best facial feature, if that be your eyes make them stand out and keep the rest of you make-up toned down. If you are blessed with  ‘Anaglina Jolie lips’ then a rich cherry red will always get you a thumbs up!

So here it is girls, what you need to know for your prom. Now go out and get your man! xx

Beauty Break Ups!

Please read with caution.

‘It’s better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all’. Am I right?..I’d like to think I am, while I know so many of you may disagree, I can guarantee a lot, if not all of you have been in a whirl wind romance you thought would last forever, only to find out your so called ‘Mr. Right’ realistically was your ‘Mr.Right Now’.  Though many relationships end in various ways, one thing certainly remains the same.
When we finally but aside the pillow and the tissues from sobbing our hearts out, we somehow amazingly, snap out of feeling sorry for ourselves and finally put our own needs first. (GIRL POWER!!!!)
Having been in break-ups myself and also witnessed close friends go through the same break-up steps, I like to think I’m a pro at how it all works.  See, correct me if I’m wrong, you break-up, you cry and cry and cry and then somehow wah-laa, it’s like you’ve been reborn!! How the F did that happen!
It’s pretty simple, one major and frequent occurence I have witnessed in probably all break-ups is the change!! Now i’m not talking about PMS, but mentally, physically and emotionally we make a decision to change our ways for the better and that is the sole purpose of this post. To make sure you do it the right way if you’re going through that dreaded ‘B’ word.
When you finally realise ‘He wasn’t man enough for me’ and hit the gym, you need to know shit just got serious! you are on a mission so that when you’re next on a night out and you just so happen to bump into your ex, he has to take a second look as he was sure ‘Blake Lively’s Twin’ had just walked through the door!
The main key to your whole break-up isn’t that new single ‘I don’t need a man’ swag you’re effortlessly portraying, but that surprisingly mind-blowing new hairstyle you have.  Hands down, I am most certainly guilty of breaking up with someone and without a doubt I’ll be sporting a brand new Hairstyle in a couple of weeks or in a few months time and O.M.G! do I feel fabulous!!!
Now I have midium to long hair which in all fairness is my life and I literally hate the thought of it being cut! But when it comes to a break-up I’m happy if not over the moon to be kissing my golden locks goodbye and always feeling like a million dollars! So what’s all that about?
Well I can assure you I’m not alone. I think most of you would agree that getting a new hairstyle post break-up is like saying goodbye to the old and hello to the new! A breathe of fresh air and such an adrenaline rush!  So for those who are experiencing a break-up, please note the best is yet to come.
When picking a new hairstyle know the facts and please swear the timing is right! You most defiantly do not want to add insult to injury.
If it’s a hair cut you are after choose wisely, remember even the smallest of change like adding bangs, can make the biggest difference.  Wanting to change colour, be practical, alothough ‘good girl gone bad’ may be you life motto right now, that bright red hair makes you stick out like a sore thumb!!! what where you thinking..oh wait! You weren’t!!
Do your research, use websites like TAAZ to try out different looks, hey why not invite your girlfirends over for moral suport and make a night of it, plus you’re guaranteed a laugh while looking for your perfect new look.
But above all girls rememeber, who run the world!!!!

FFS!

Make-up really is my BFF! It’s hidden that god awful pimple I had way back when so my crush wouldn’t think I had two heads! It’s let me experiment with different looks to practically turn me into the woman I am today! But the one Makeup look I just can’t live without, is the natural beauty look and correct me if I’m wrong but I think this is one of the most crucial and yet hardest looks to achieve, because let’s face it, the girls of today can’t step out of their own front doors without their false lashes hitting their hair line! So let’s ditch those lashes and take it back home! I’m going to share with you tips tricks and step by step ways on how to achieve the perfect fresh, flawless skin for you every day natural beauty look.
Your beauty bag should consist of 6 vital make-up products, those being, Concealer, Foundation, Bronzer, Blusher, Highlighter and Mascara.  I’m not going to tell you what each brand the products should be as different skin tones and textures will require something different, but to make this makeup look work you most absolutely defiantly need those 6 listed products!!
I’ll admit I don’t always use concealer but when I do it’s normally under my eyes and that’s it! Make sure to always use a slightly lighter colour to your foundation as you want to open your eyes not make them look smaller!
Your foundation goes everywhere on your face including past that jaw line leading in to your neck, work with the hair on your face, brush stroke you foundation down towards your heart and at the bridge of your nose work up and around your forehead so you get an even look throughout the whole face!  Being a Make-up Artist I sometime like the dewy effect my foundation gives me, but if it’s a night out I will usually use a blot powder, this fixes the makeup to last longer and it also takes unwanted shine away from the face!
Your next step is bronzer, suck in your cheeks like a fish, remember use less bronzing powder then you need it’s better to gradually build up the colour you want rather than applying to much of it and ending up in ‘FML’ moment! Were you see the shadow on your sucked in cheeks is were you apply the bronzer, use a soft circular motion move up towards and on your temples, remember to add bronzer along the jaw line and down the sides of your nose! You should never apply bronzer on the whole of your face! We want to create a flawless look, not join the cast of the Umpa-lumpas! (Build up the colour softly!)
Your next step is your blusher. I use a soft pink colour but depending on your skin colour you may use a peach! Either way applying your blush remains the same! Smile so your cheeks get those nice little plums either side, softly apply you blusher on the base of your cheeks using circular motion again leading in to the bronzer remember to work with your cheek bone shape they tend to slant upwards toward the temple so work upward.
A highlighter is crucial and a little tip! You can even use a very light cream eye shadow; I use one with a bit of shimmer to it.  Apply your highlighter on your eyebrow bones, down the centre of your nose, on your cupids bow (lips) and lastly above your blusher but only at the top of your cheek bone before you reach your eye socket and gently brush it along your cheek bone till it reaches the same point as your eyebrow.
Your last and final step is your mascara, before applying any mascara I beg that you use lash curlers! Don’t apply your mascara on to heavy, too much can make your eyes look clumpy and that is a massive no no!  Once you have applied mascara you’ll have time to spare, so make a brew and admire your new Make-up look, Wah-la! xx
